“Everyone Escapes Safely from Collapsing Villa in Clermont, Florida”
On Monday, August 12, 2013 building 104 suddenly began to
collapse in the Summer Bay Resort of Clermont, Florida near Disneyworld. What was the cause of the villa’s collapse?
It was none other than a 100-foot wide sink hole.
The cause of the sink hole is said to be contributed by the
record rain fall that Clermont has received this year. The water seeps down into the earth and
erodes away the limestone, which would then crumble and cause the sinkhole.
Luckily, thanks to an early 911 call, everyone was evacuated
and no one was killed, or even slightly injured. Also, electricity and plumbing has been
restored to almost all of the buildings that lost power during the event and
the sinkhole has not spread.
