Primeval forest discovered deep off Alabama coast

This is crazy to find out that there is actually an ancient forest living below the ocean floor. The forest was discovered by scuba divers about 10 miles from the coast of Mobile, Ala. It existed about 50,000 years ago and it had thrived for 1,500-2.000 years before it ended up below the ocean floor. The diameter of the forest is about six and eight feet which is really cool. Like Grant Harley said “It takes some pretty special environmental characteristics to preserve wood this long.” That meaning scuba divers better discover as much as possible because the wood will sooner or later crumble. I think that this is a great way for our human population to find out more and more about our environment and be able to know the reasons why we have a ocean floor forest. Overall it is a huge task to cover but with the resources we have it is possible. Maybe there are more oceans floor forest, we won’t know until we start looking.

  1. I think that the discovery of an underwater forest is amazing. Hopefully more research will be done on this recently discovered forest so we can learn more about it.

  2. This is pretty amazing, in my honest opinion. There's so much to be discovered in the ocean (in fact about 95% of our ocean is unexplored) and who knows how many fascinating things could be down there? It would be awesome to study this forest to learn more about the ancient environment of our continent. Even though it may just be a bunch of dead trees, it's exhilarating to think about what kind of discoveries we could possibly find by investigating this forest. Perhaps there are more of these ancient forests just off our beaches!
